I havn't made a pot of coffee in about 15 years. I forgot how to measure it out...and of course the instructions for this important item was not included w/my new Gevalia coffee maker.

A: Generally it's 1 teaspoon per cup or one of those little plastic ones that come with your pot. Taste and strenght will vary from one blend to another but if you are not too particular about your coffee this will work.

A: One thing no one mentioned with the vinegar... keep your face back from the steam, it burns your eyes and nose. But yeah, half vinegar, half water, run it through a few times, then run fresh water through to flush out the water. My mom taught me to run the vinegar through once a month or so, more if you have hard water. Once a week I run a pot of fresh water through it, and then use that to pour down my sink after I bleach the sink drain. I have weird cleaning habits. =/

I've always wondered if the cup ratings on a coffee maker like 12 cups means 12 8oz cups or 12 6oz. cups? The reason I ask is because every container of ground coffee I buy has the recipe in 6oz cups such as: "Use 1 rounded tablespoon for each 6oz cup." So is my coffee pot 96 total oz or 72?

A: Haha, thanks for the giggle. I can see my boyfriend doing this! Seriously though, don't bother taking your own coffee maker! I'm sure wherever you're going has coffee shops where you can buy some, or just make-do with the 4-cup coffee maker they have in the hotel.

I'm a Disabled Veteran and live alone, and, today I was at a Restaurant and had a cup of Decaff Coffee and it was very tasty. Surely they may use a tasty type of Coffee, but, I'm thinking they just use the right amount. When I make a Pot of Coffee, I only use 5 "heaping" Tablespoons of Coffee for a 12 cup pot. My Coffee just isn't that tasty. It's rather bland and seems weak. I use either Hills Bros. or, Folgers "Regular or French Roast". How much should I use to make a Tasty Pot so each cup has a definitive Coffee taste? What kind of Coffee would you use? I don't like the Coffee's like Hazelnut or Vanilla tastes, and I don't buy or have Cappuccino except once in a great while,......usually seasonaly. Ladies or anyone that likes a good tasty cup of Coffee ......how much should I use in a standard 12 cup drip maker?? Thanks! I did buy a small "Breakfast Blend" of Starbuck's at my local grocery quite awhile back, and I used my standard 5 TBs of Coffee from that bag, and although it didn't taste as strong as Starbuck's makes, it did taste better. I just noticed a great difference in the taste of "my" Coffee today vs. what I had at the Restaurant and it was almost like drinking water compared at my house compared to what I was served. Although it was Decaff today, I gotta' tell you, it was the best tasting Decaff I've ever had and probably in the top 5 best tasting cup-of-coffees I've ever had. I myself use "Lite" or 1/2 Decaff. A: i usually measure it on the coffee thing, if you fill it all with water it should make 10 or more cups, it also depends on what coffee machine you have. Sometimes i wet the coffee filter a bit and then put the coffee in it. Sometimes if you use it for the second day it won't be so strong. You could also use a flavor additive to your coffee like vanilla, hazelnut etc and then add some milk to it.

A: It will depend on your coffee making method or coffee machine. I use a simple pour over system where I pour hot water over the grounds in a suspended filter. I use 7 grams of freshly roasted freshly ground coffee per 6 ounces of water. A friend has a urn that he uses 5 scoops (about 7 table spoons) per 180 ounces of water.
