Q: Coffee Maker ???
How do you clean the inside of a coffee maker? NOT the pot the maker it's self

A: Run a cycle of vinegar and water through it and then run just water through it!

Q: How do I stop my coffee maker from making coffee that tastes like plastic?
I just bought a 4-cup coffee maker to replace my broken Krups. The directions mentioned that, before making the first cup of coffee, I should run water through the system first. I did this, but even after a month of using the coffee maker every day, the coffee tastes like plastic. I've been using the same filters, water, and coffee as I did in my old machine, so it has to be the new coffee maker. How do I get the plastic taste out of my coffee?

A: 1. Contact the manufacturer. It might have been recalled. In that case they should off to replace it at no charge. 2. Try running a coffee pot cleaner thru it. You can also use diluted vinegar. 3. Return it to the store for exchange or refund. Plastic coffee is the worst!!!

Q: What kind of coffee maker should I get to make iced coffee?
I want to make iced coffee at home, but I do not own a coffee maker. What is the best inexpensive kind to buy? What else will I need?

A: Get an iced tea maker. Then you don't even have to wait for it to cool after it's brewed. I got mine for $20 at Wal-Mart and I love it! I don't even make tea with it, I make iced coffee all summer long.

Q: Can extremely hard water ruin a coffee maker?
Here in Austin, TX we have very hard water and my coffee maker has slowed waaaayyyyy down. I have a Mr. Coffee coffee maker it cost me $59.00 and it was wonderful at first but now it is sloooowww. It has a feature to let you know when the coffee is done...it beeps 8 times. But now, it beeps even though it's not even close to being done. Would it be better if I would use distilled water?

A: Yes. The lime will clog it. I clean my coffee maker 1x month w/vinegar. Fill pot w/vinegar and let it run through one cycle (make sure you have a filter in). Then run clear water through 2 times. I do this 1x a month because we drink about 5 pots a day in my house-no lie!

Q: What coffee maker does not use plastic tanks and pipes so that we don't get plastic in our coffee?
Nearly every drip coffee maker has a plastic heating tank and all have plastic pipes to bring hot water to the coffee grounds. I am concerned that many people are drinking plastic along with their coffee - and most plastics are toxic. I have contacted several of the most popular manufacturers - none uses stainless steel for delivery pipes and only a few pots have a stainless steel tank. Considering how many people use these drip coffee makers, it seems a serious public health concern.

A: If you're so petrified of plastic, get an old-fashioned metal drip pot. You put coffee in a holder over the pot, then top it w/ a water holder. Pour in hot water and let it drip thru. Simple, and you can probably find onein an antique store somewhere, unless some hippiesin CA make some modern-day ones.

Q: How much coffee do you put on your coffee maker?
I try making coffee, but it always taste like crap. How much coffee should I use on my coffee maker?

A: Well the way I do it is to take the number of cups you are making and divide by two. 4 cups of water = 2 scoops of coffee. 6 cups of water =3 scoops... etc etc etc

Q: What sort of coffee maker would be best for me?
I don't drink a lot of coffee but I like to have a strong cup with lots of additives (syrup, creamer, whatever I have). What type of coffee maker would be best for me?

A: If you just want regular coffee then want to add stuff to it then just by a regular coffee maker (if you want to get fancy, get one with a timer) and get a bunch of creamer and all that good stuff from the local conglomomart. There are all kinds of nice coffee makers for around 30$. Thats what I would do anyway. The Hershey's chocolate carmel creamer is really good btw.

Q: Coffee maker cuisine? What kinds of food can you make with a coffee maker?
I already know the obvious, ramen, mac & cheese, vegetables, oatmeal, soup, pasta, rice, hot cocoa.. coffee obviously, I heard that you can make pancakes on the warmer part, but I've looked all through what Mr. Google says and can find very little information on the topic. Does anyone else know what you can make? And I know i could just get a hotplate, but I'm moving around and want to find that one small appliance that can do anything, and I believe the coffee maker is it!

A: how about fish? It cooks very quick.add a little butter.I think it will work! good luck.

Q: How do you make good coffee without a coffee maker?
i just bought starbucks french roast ground coffee, i need to know how to make it without a coffee maker. I would also like to know how to make a frappacino with it.

A: After the outer pulp is removed, coffee seeds are prepared by roasting, which develops the aroma and flavor of their essential oils. Longer roasting produces darker, stronger coffee. The variety of recipes and prescriptions for roasting, brewing, and serving coffee reflects the diversity of consumer tastes and cultural preferences. All techniques begin with properly roasted, freshly ground coffee; freshly boiling water; and absolutely clean utensils. Turkish coffee, a strong, unfiltered brew of finely powdered coffee and sugar, is popular in Greece, Turkey, and Arabia. Italian-style espresso, or expresso, is brewed by forcing hot water under pressure through finely powdered, often darkly roasted coffee. Most other coffees are filtered. Café au lait, coffee mixed with scalded milk, is a traditional French breakfast drink, as is café con leche in countries where Spanish is spoken. Coffee flavored with chicory is a specialty of New Orleans. Connoisseurs pay dearly for Mocha from the Yemen region of Arabia, Blue Mountain from Jamaica, Kona from Hawaii, or other so-called specialty coffees from Africa, Indonesia, or Latin America—all premium arabica varieties.

Q: How to descaling a coffee maker?
I need to descaling a coffee maker. I heard that baking soda and vinegar could be useful, but I do not have the proportions and instructions.

A: Use white vinegar and baking soda.In a measuring cup add 1/2 cup of vinegar then add baking soda until it is the consistency of paste.Rub this mixture on the inside of both the pot and basket.Run through dishwasher cycle. If there are still spots on either use paste and rub with cloth on inside and outside of pot till all stains are gone.Use a toothbrush on the basket and brush with the paste and then wash both clean. Before use run through a complete cycle on your coffee maker to make sure it is clean.

Q: What is the best coffee maker that will brew the best ?
I have become a coffee addict (ha,ha).... I have a "Mr. Coffee" maker and i hate it!! it makes my coffee bitter and burnt. I have started buying "Mcdonalds" coffee and i wanted to buy a maker that makes my coffee taste as good as theirs. I hope somebody knows what i mean ..like all you other coffee addicts :) thanks for reading my ad and Merry Christmas!

A: Ah HA!! Try this: a percolator. They're the best. They cook the coffee while a dripper makes coffee tea. The percolator brings out the bouquet of the coffee and gives it nose. It's delicious. AND -- percolators last. I've had mine for 16 years.

Q: is there an unconventional way to make coffee without a coffee maker?
my coffee maker broke on me, the button is stuck. and i'm in desperate need of coffee!! is there an old fashion way of making coffee?

A: Grab any old saucepan, and fill it with two cups of water. (or of course with however many cups you would like to drink.) Add four or five tablespoons of grounded coffee per two cups of water. Take that saucepan over to the stove and bring it to a rumbling boil and then quickly remove it from the heated burner. Let the coffee grounds then settle to the bottom of the pan, this may take three or four minutes. When you know that the grounds have settled begin to pour the coffee into your cup. If at first when you begin to pour the coffee you think to yourself " i hope that i don't get a whole bunch of grounds in my cup." Don't worry. The grounds will stay at the bottom of the pan. Enjoy! Note: Best if made over a fire The Original Cowboy Coffee is done like this: 4 quarts water 1 1/2 cups freshly ground coffee 1 egg shell 1/2 cup cold water Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan or coffee pot. Add coffee grounds and egg shell to boiling water. Return to a boil, then remove from heat and let stand for 2 minutes. Slowly add cold water to settle grounds to the bottom. Strain if desired. However, this way sounds promising also: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Make sure there is more than enough for a cup or two for everybody. Throw in a generous handful of fresh ground coffee. Simmer at just below a boil until the grounds settle. Pour the coffee slowly into your cup. Beware the last sip (There is always more, just refill). Useful Tips: The key to good cowboy coffee is to keep it hot enough but never let it boil. When brewing, it should be hot enough so that the grounds are moving in the water, but the water is not bubbling. If you boil it, it gets very bitter. Once you have added the coffee, keep the pot over a small pile of coals. If you don't have a grill, keep the pot balanced on a couple rocks. When the coffee is the right strength, let it cool just enough to let the grounds settle. It tastes awful if you reheat it for every cup. Exception – it still tastes fantastic when reheated after a long day hike or climb when you get back to camp, particularly with some whiskey in it, or as a chaser. Once you got the fire going, start a fresh pot. If you keep it over some coals, you can keep it hot for hours and it only gets better. When the coffee in the pot gets low, just add more water and some more coffee and repeat the process.

Q: how do you clean your coffee maker?
i have heard vinegar, will apple cider vinegar work? i used to buy a coffee maker solution but i want to clean it today so... thanx for your time.

A: vinegar works fine

Q: What's the best time to add coffee to the coffee maker for the next morning?
What's the best time to add coffe to the coffee maker for the next morning? I was wonder how many hours the coffee can stay in the machine before it looses it's strength.

A: If its dry it can be in there all night when you set it up before going to bed. Or get one of those coffee pods that has premeasured amounts in it. Im more of a tea or hot chocolate person sorry its not better help. Only if your coffee grouinds where wet would you have a problem. Leave the grounds dry and fill the water well, if oy have a timer set it, if not just leave a note on your alarm clock to flip the switch as soon as you get to the kitchen, so its brewing while your waking up and getting ready for the day.
