Q: Anyone know about coffee machines?
How long should a coffee machine last? I've had a Saeco coffee machine for the last 5 years and it keeps breaking and saying I need to fill the water tank when it is already full. I've taken it to be fixed twice and it works for a few days and then breaks again. I can't afford to keep taking it to the guy to fix it as it costs me quite a lot in cabs each time, plus the cost of the repair, so I'm looking for anyone who's got some tips or info on how I could fix it myself. The guy who fixes it reckons it's the electronics which are faulty. It wasn't cheap - it was around $900, so I don't want to throw it away and get a new one.......I'm not that rich!!

A: These people don't have a clue as to what you have. I also own a Seaco Espresso Machine you have to keep it clean. I would fill the water tank with vinegar/water and let it site overnight. it uses a led and a sensor to check water level when it doesn't see the light it thinks the water is empty. but if you use it a lot 5 years is a pretty long time. it might be time to replace it. you might also do with out it for a while and try sending it to Saeco they may rebuild it for cheap did the guy who fixed it tell you what was wrong may be a new water tank would fix the problem. but I would defenetly ask someone at http://www.saeco-usa.com/

Q: Where to buy good espresso machine in London (zone 1-2)?
Hi, I want to buy a good espresso coffee machine (probably italian, saeco, gaggia) and I wonder if there is a specialty store. My searches in internet return many online shops, but not physical stores. I could go to the big ones(JL and the like), but ,i rather buy from a small retailer. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance.

A: personally, I would go to JL or selfridges 'cos they'll prob have a big variety and some stock left! I know upper street, islington has a few cool little kitchenalia shops, you might get a reconditioned one there. Also, around spitalfields market, close to liverpool street, there's a couple of shops there.

Q: whats the best dual purpose coffee machines??
I heard that Saeco is the most overpriced machines you can buy and they are in for repair alot, as well the parts are made in china, and they try to come off as an Italian made machine..

A: If what you mean by dual purpose is coffee/espresso, then Krups makes a very good model. They also make a bad model, so be savvy and look for "bars of pressure". A decent cup of espresso requires at least 9 bars of pressure. One model gives you a coffee maker and a steam pump espresso on the other side, which only provides 4 bars of pressure. The better bet, albeit pricier, is the "pump" model, which provides you the coffee maker and a 15 bar pressure espresso maker. If you don't drink more than a cup a day, a better option is the Tassimo machine, which allows you to make coffee, espresso, lattes, cappucinos, tea, and hot chocolate. You do have to buy the pods, but what's cool is a laser reads the bar code on each pod and adjusts the pressure for each type of drink. The machine is less expensive, but the pods will cost you if you drink 4-5 cups a day like I do. But if you have a starbucks habit, this is certainly a cheaper option!
